The Holiday Cottages, the Hayloft and the Bullpen, are situated in a quiet courtyard forming part of the impressive Backwood Hall Estate.

These cosy and stylish home from home two-storey barn conversions have been lovingly renovated to a very high standard and furnished entirely by designer Sandra Harris, incorporating fabrics from William Yeoward, Designers Guild, Blendworth and furnished with an eclectic mix of antique and modern pieces creating a truly relaxing do-what-you-want atmosphere.

The Hayloft sleeps 4-6. The Bullpen Sleeps 4.

Each cottage is two-bedroomed with sun-trap front gardens, filling the rooms with light and space. The spacious individually designed bedrooms all have their own private en-suite shower room. Their airy open plan living room/dining areas with fully fitted modern kitchens have everything you need to enjoy your escape to the country.

Enquire about bringing your dog or your horse on holiday, the perfect place for walking or riding.

Self-catering is easy with M&S and Sainsbury’s only a five min drive away.

Backwood Hall East Wing has now been added to our Holiday Lets portfolio. So stay in your own country house for a weekend or longer…. Experience the luxury, the space, the quiet, and the absolutely stunning views over the Dee Estuary to the Welsh Hills beyond.

Backwood hall East has a beautiful lounge with original architectural features including a marble fireplace which you can cosy up to on a chilly evening, shuttered windows, although who would want to shut out that view! and beautiful plasterwork. A door connects this to an impressive dining room with 19th century chandelier and wall lights, a marble open fireplace and lovely plasterwork. We can arrange for a caterer to come in and cook for you if desired.

The large kitchen has bags of space, where you can sit around the large oak refectory table for more casual dining.  There is everything you could need for food preparation and cooking.

A cloakroom area, laundry room and downstairs toilet completes the ground floor.

The hallway has the impressive original pitch pine staircase which leads to a large landing and bedrooms.

The master bedroom is light and airy with beautiful views across the estuary. There is plenty of wardrobe space, a luxurious French style bed and antique furniture. The large ensuite bathroom leads off the bedroom, with roll top bath and  separate shower.

The twin room again has lovely views and a mix of modern and antique furniture.

The third bedroom is down the hallway. It is another double with lovely views across the garden to the farm. This has a jack and jill bathroom which is ensuite to the double but has another door which leads onto the hallway so that the twin room can access it. The bathroom is large with another roll top bath and separate shower.

There is a large sofa bed on the open landing which can accommodate another 2 people if needed.

Outside you can relax in the garden, take in the stunning views, or have a game of tennis on our private tennis court. Parking is on our private drive.

Self catering luxury for 4-6 people. The Hayloft is an upside down house with beautiful beamed, open plan living / kitchen area above two spacious bedrooms, one double and one twin. There is also  a comfortable sofa bed in the living area.

BACKWOOD HALL

Backwood Hall is a 300 acre Estate dating from the 17th Century. The current early Victorian hall dated 1840 bears the arms of local land owners, the Clegg Family.

Situated in peaceful surroundings near Parkgate on the Wirral Penninsular, it has uninterrupted idyllic views of the Dee Estuary looking towards the hills of North Wales. The area is a perfect location for relaxing.

For those of you who would like a more active break there is a private pathway from the Estate leading to the Wirral Way where you can discover 50 miles of beautiful rural walks, cycle ways, bridle paths and beaches. There is also a tennis court and S.W.A.T paintballing venue located on the Estate.

Within walking distance is Parkgate, the only coastal resort in Cheshire. This picturesque village nestled away on the west coast of South Wirral has been a popular tourist resort for many years. It has always attracted people from near and far to enjoy its unique and appealing experience. It is famous for its abundance of wildlife in the estuary including a large variety of birds. Parkgate is also the perfect place to dine out. With over 11 eateries in this small area, including its famous ice cream parlour Nicholls, there is something to appeal to all tastes.

The Wirral offers many attractions and things to do. To see whats on and its events and festivals visit www.visitwirral.com A highlight not to miss out on is The 2023 British Open Golf Championship at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake, Backwood being the ideal place to stay for this event, prices on application. Places to visit include Ness Botanic Gardens,the RSPB nature reserve at Burton and Port Sunlight Museum & Garden Village.

Backwood Hall is the perfect base to visit the nearby cities of Chester, Liverpool and Manchester and to set out exploring North Wales.

The Bull Pen, once home to the prize Limousin bull, Backwood Theodore, has now been beautifully converted,  comprising open plan kitchen/ living room with French windows opening on to a lovely sunny patio. There are 2  bedrooms, the twin downstairs has a colonial feel with wall papers resembling window shutters and antique pine furniture. Upstairs is  the large beamed double bedroom, taking its influence from ‘French country’.
